I find it hilarious that this is still a thing, I have been warning people that there is an enormous amount of service animals on the horizon and that things need to change most importantly to make it easier for people to embrace this positivity in this dark world of Mental Health and also more protection for the patient in regards to enforcement to prevent disability discrimination.
Determining if I have a legal right to own and operate a service a animal is something that begins and ends as a conversation between patient and doctor Theoretically, several states are cracking down on service animal laws, this just means a group of busy body individuals want to get into my business about my service animal, glad to see that Texas isn’t one of them.
Nineteen states are cracking down on laws regarding service animals after people tried to pass off their pets as service dogs.
I think there needs to be a comparison on the amount of service animal disability discrimination cases compared to the amount of fake service animal issues.
Protect the patient, do no harm, these are what the doctors live by and they diagnose people with these illnesses, then don’t give the full protection of the law. People hate these visualization but they are my favorite because I believe in equal treatment for all, what a shock. Anyway, when has it ever been OK to stand in front of someone with a disability, yell and accuse them of all sorts of vile behavior, just because they said they have a service animal.
I HAVE AN INVISIBLE ILLNESS,
PLEASE I INVITE YOU TO
JUDGE ME FOR IT!!!
My journey working and walking with a service animal has given me, clarity, peace of mind, focus, positivity, or the other option… become a pickled mental case with a failing liver because the doctors can’t decided on the right psych meds.
Are Private Service Animal Training companies taking sides with statements like this from Trainers with The Dog Alliance said “legitimate service animals take hours of training to prepare to be in public.” This is slightly annoying because a thousand hours is just the start, literally that is just getting used to going in and out of stores and restaurants, libraries, offices, schools, hospitals, and malls.
I’ve heard so called legitimate trainers bash on self trained service animals so many times, even experiencing an attack at the gorgeous DeviI’s Tower by a so-called service animal trainer. The self important statement, “I train service animals and that is definitely not one…” I just laughed and asked him where he got his medical degree, and then it hit me, I started to feel that they (PSAT Professional Service Animal Trainer or SAT) have had a hand in the negative promotion in regards to service animal violations and all (insert sarcastic voice) service animal issues.
Why hasn’t the VA, probable the largest clearinghouse for people with psychological disorders, gotten on board with protection for the people they have diagnosed and offered a solution other than getting twisted on psyche meds.
My service animal is the solution….
“At least 1,000 hours that we put into each dog, at least, that’s the minimum,” said Debi Krakar, the executive director. “It takes a lot of time to practice out in public, so your dog is not fazed by the environment around them.”
I have had Charli since she was 12 weeks old and thi is not my first rodeo when it comes to dealing with service animal related issues. I have to educate store employees, management, and ownership 3-5 times with no compensation for my time, just kidding, this is such a huge part of my life I would do it for free.
Our current project is a series of movies people can use to train and familiarize people with how best to interact with people with service animals. Your can support this project by finding us on Patreon.
One thing people forget, that person that you challenge about their service animal may be in a very fragile emotional state, try to show some compassion for your fellow man.
Just because you can ask the 2 questions, is it really necessary to cause a huge ruckus over a 4 minute interaction with a customer that is just trying to give you money.
The problems that people have with service animals are their own problems.
Service animals come in all shapes and sizes, from the tiniest Yorkie Cutie to the biggest Great Dane and everything in between. My sweet angel is a Chiweenie and she just love to run!!!! But when it’s time to work, go in a store, have a meal, visit… anywhere and you will find me and my Service Dog
In conclusion, this is not news, or nothing new but the same continuous complaint about the problems and personal misunderstanding in regards to service animal abuse. I have had to jump through so many hoops to get right here and right now understanding my mental illness. I finally find an avenue, a viable solution that enable me to interact with the public, get out, breath fresh air, become a member of the community and not be a depressed shut in.
I WILL NOT BE DISCOURAGED
